The University of Glasgow has appointed Professor Iain Gordon as Senior Vice-Principal & Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Gordon served as Vice-Principal and Head of the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. He succeeds Professor Frank Coton.
A mathematician by training, Professor Gordon completed his PhD at the University of Glasgow and began his academic career there as a Lecturer in Mathematics in 2000. He has held academic posts in Germany, Belgium, and the United States, and was appointed Professor of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh in 2006. His leadership roles at Edinburgh included serving as Head of the School of Mathematics from 2014 to 2022, prior to his current Vice-Principal appointment.
