David E. Cohen, MD, PhD, Appointed Chair of Medicine at Cedars-Sinai

Cedars-Sinai has named David E. Cohen, MD, PhD, as chair of the Department of Medicine. A nationally recognized physician-scientist, Cohen most recently led the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and served as professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

“Dr. Cohen is a respected leader in academic medicine whose expertise in clinical care, research and education will strengthen our department,” said Shlomo Melmed, MB, ChB, executive vice president of Medicine and Health Sciences.

“I’m honored to join Cedars-Sinai and look forward to advancing innovation and excellence in patient care,” said Cohen.

Cohen previously held leadership roles at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. His research on obesity-related liver disease and metabolic disorders has been widely published, and he is a fellow of several leading medical societies.
