Carnegie Mellon University appointed Ram Kapoor as associate vice president for marketing and brand strategy. He joins the University Communications and Marketing (UCM) team to lead marketing vision, strategy and execution, with responsibility for brand campaigns, cross‑university messaging, and initiatives that advance CMU’s regional, national and global reputation. 
Kapoor brings more than a decade of experience as chief marketing officer within the University of California system, including leadership at UC Berkeley and at the system office overseeing 10 campuses, six medical centers and three national laboratories.
A native of India, Kapoor holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology. His work has earned recognition from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Cannes Lions, New York Festivals, and the London International Awards.
