The Board of Directors of The Dimock Center selected Charles Anderson, MD, MPH, MBA of Newton, Massachusetts, as the new President and CEO of the 159-year-old organization. Nationally recognized as a model for the delivery of comprehensive health and human services in an urban community, Dimock provides high-quality care to Boston’s underserved neighborhoods, serving more than 19,000 people annually.
Anderson has served in a wide variety of roles over the past 25 years in the Boston-area healthcare community, including co-chairing the committee on Building Strong Families and Communities as part of the State of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care’s Birth to School-Age Task Force.
“The Dimock Center has been a trusted health care partner in Roxbury for more than 150 years. I am honored to be part of an organization that has been focused on correcting historic health inequities since its founding in 1862, especially as this pandemic has exacerbated inequities and health disparities in communities of color,” said Anderson.
“As a physician leader, healthcare executive, advocate for health equity, and entrepreneur, Charles intuitively understands The Dimock Center’s focus on integrating healthcare, mental health support and education services for patients and families in need,” said Bob Rivers, Chair of The Dimock Community Foundation Board, and CEO and Chair of the Board of Eastern Bank. “He is a humanitarian at heart and we believe his leadership of multi-focused approaches to building healthier communities is critical to addressing a pandemic that is exacerbating a health crisis and economic devastation among low-income Black and Brown communities. On behalf of Dimock’s Board and entire team, it is a pleasure to welcome Charles to this role. We also share our thanks to Peter Gerondeau for his leadership during the transition and to the entire staff working on the front-lines and delivering care to the community during these most challenging of times.”
