Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi announced Dr. Shawnrece Campbell as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. Campbell has held several leadership positions while at Stetson University, including Director of the Africana Studies Program, founding director of the bachelor’s degree completion program in Organizational Leadership, and associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. At Stetson, Campbell was appointed to serve on the University’s Inclusive Hiring Task Force and the University’s Equity and Inclusion Group. She also established the Stetson University American Association of University Women (AAUW) Branch and presided as its inaugural president.
“I am elated to be joining the Island University, a premier institution of higher education supporting faculty research initiatives, as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts,” said Campbell. “The University’s student-centered focus, commitment to inclusive excellence, experiential learning, and creativity and innovation match my own values.”
Campbell received a Ph.D. in English from Kent State University, an M.B.A. from Stetson University, an M.A. from Youngstown State University, and a B.A. from John Carroll University.
