The Papal Foundation, whose mission is to serve the Holy Father and the Roman Catholic Church through faith, energy and financial resources, has named David Savage Executive Director. In this role, Savage will lead the organization’s focus on addressing Pope Francis’ priorities to build the Church, educate and prepare leaders, and care for the most vulnerable people, young and old, around the world.
“David’s experience and demonstrated commitment to the Church will greatly benefit our organization,” said Cardinal Sean O’Malley, Chairman of The Papal Foundation Board of Trustees. “We are very happy he will be leading efforts to build the resources that the Foundation deploys to care for the needy in developing nations around the globe, as we work diligently to address priorities identified by the Holy Father.”
“Dave has the business acumen we searched for and, most importantly, he is passionate about his Catholic faith,” added Eustace Mita, President of The Papal Foundation’s Board of Directors. “Working closely with existing and new Stewards of St. Peter to accomplish the Holy Father’s goals, Dave is poised to take The Papal Foundation to the next level. I want to thank our Search Committee Members Rob Neal, Tammy Tenaglia, Den Jilot, and Ward Fitzgerald, who shepherded this process.”
Since its founding in 1988, The Papal Foundation has awarded more than $190 Million in grants and scholarships to underserved communities and dioceses around the world. “I am extremely blessed to have the opportunity to support The Papal Foundation’s work to grow the Catholic faith, as well as house, heal, feed and educate individuals and families around the globe,” Savage added.
