Belmont University has appointed Cleo D. Rucker, J.D., as its new associate vice president of human resources and chief human resources officer.
Rucker brings more than 20 years of experience in human resources leadership, most recently serving as chief people experience officer and associate vice chancellor at Vanderbilt University. His background includes strategic innovation in higher education HR, with expertise in employee relations, talent management, and organizational development.
In his new role, Rucker will oversee all human resources functions at Belmont, including recruitment, training and development, compensation and benefits, and compliance. He will also serve as the University’s deputy Title IX coordinator.
Rucker holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin, a master’s degree in religion from Trevecca University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Prior to his work in higher education, he served as an attorney in labor relations for Milwaukee Public Schools.
