Sofia Toro has been named the inaugural Vice Provost for Enrollment Management of Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science. Reporting to the executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, the vice provost for enrollment management will provide overall direction, leadership, and coordination of CDU’s enrollment management activities, including all aspects of student recruitment, community college partnerships, undergraduate and graduate admissions, financial aid, and the registrar.
Toro comes to CDU with 15 years of experience at Keck Graduate Institute, part of the Claremont Colleges, serving for four of those years as Dean of Students, Engagement and Enrollment and for seven as Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid. Prior to that she worked for seven years in Admissions at Pepperdine University. Her private consulting has included working with both students and families on college options and financing and with institutions on strategic planning and student/alumni engagement. She has demonstrated her commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education through, among other contributions, service as vice president for education for the National Society of Hispanic MBAs LA Chapter. She holds a BS in Business Administration from Woodbury University and an MBA from Pepperdine.
