Michael Goar has assumed the role of president and CEO of the Sisters of Charity Health System. With more than 25 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit and education sectors, Goar most recently served as president and CEO of Catholic Charities of St. Paul-Minneapolis, where he partnered with the board to develop a strategic plan, identify new revenue streams, and establish a $50 million reserve fund. Previously, Goar was CEO for Big Brothers Big Sisters in the Twin Cities, leading a $10M capital campaign and growing the organization from serving 2,000 to 4,500 children, according to a news release.
His career also includes leadership roles with Minneapolis Public Schools, Boston Public Schools and Memphis City Schools.
“I have been reflecting on the profound impact that the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine have had over their 173-year history,” he stated. “As we look ahead, I am filled with optimism and hope for the future of our organization – a future that we will co-create . . . building on the core values of the Sisters of Charity Health System – compassion, courage, respect, justice and collaboration.”
