Nathaniel (Nat) Grotte is an expert in leadership and leadership education who has consulted, instructed, and written on senior-level executive concepts and strategies. He has a deep belief in individuals’ ability to develop their leadership skills through structured education that supports experiential knowledge and insight. Nat also believes in the power of leadership to effect change and aligns with WittKieffer’s mission to improve the lives of people and communities through impactful leadership.

Prior to joining WittKieffer, Nat served as a leadership consultant for another international executive recruiting and advisory firm. In this role, he led project management for client-facing advisory engagements from conception through delivery, including customizing and conducting leadership assessments. He also contributed to in-house leadership development programs for the firm’s executives.
Nat brings over 15 years of experience in higher education, mostly from his time at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. There, he was most recently Director of Strategy and Operations for the Davis Center for Leadership. He was a founding member of the team that designed a leadership incubator that produced multiple alumni and student classes and programs. In earlier appointments at Booth, he was Senior Associate Director for Experiential Learning and Associate Director for the Center for Population Economics. He is the co-author of Political Arithmetic: Simon Kuznets and the Empirical Tradition in Economics and several academic articles.
A resident of Oak Park, Illinois, Nat enjoys cycling, refining pizza recipes, and taking long road trips with his family.
