St. Charles Health System (St. Charles) seeks an Executive Medical Director for its Cardiovascular Service Line (EMD) who brings integrity, compassion, and a collaborative leadership style to advancing patient care and clinical excellence. This is a unique opportunity for a physician leader with broad experience across multiple aspects of cardiology to shape the future of cardiovascular care in a mission-driven, patient-centered environment.
St. Charles is the only integrated delivery system in Central Oregon, with four hospitals, 381 licensed beds, and extensive ambulatory services. With a 94% market share in its primary service area and a Lean management foundation, St. Charles is well-positioned for continued strategic expansion to meet the healthcare needs of Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties. The Cardiovascular Service Line includes approximately 23 physicians and 20 APPs and offers general cardiology, interventional cardiology, structural heart, electrophysiology, pulmonary, and cardiothoracic surgery services.
The EMD will serve as the principal strategic and clinical leader for Cardiovascular Services across the system, guiding the planning, development, and implementation of care delivery with an emphasis on clinical excellence, community service, safety, and innovation. In a dyad partnership with the Cardiovascular Service Line Administrator, the EMD will lead the transformational adoption of digital technologies in cardiovascular medicine and surgery, improve patient and clinician experiences, and advance a culture of continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will ensure that operational structures support sustainable growth across the region, including efforts to recruit new physicians and optimize service delivery. The position requires a balance of visionary leadership and hands-on clinical engagement, including maintaining active clinical practice. This leader will be board-certified in a cardiovascular based subspecialty with proven leadership experience in developing advanced clinical programs and achieving superior patient outcomes in a complex, multi-site healthcare setting.
