The Behavioral Health Administrator will serve as a key advisor and operational leader, advancing an integrated vision that aligns clinical excellence, academic innovation, and regional service. This individual will provide enterprise-wide leadership for a growing behavioral health service line and play a critical role in shaping the future of behavioral health care, education, research, and community impact across one of Texas's most dynamic academic health systems.
UT Tyler is a comprehensive public research university and member of The University of Texas System, serving as the primary academic and health sciences institution for East Texas. Through its integration with the UT Tyler Health Science Center and UT Health East Texas, the university has created a unified academic health enterprise that combines education, research, clinical care, and community engagement to improve health outcomes and quality of life throughout the region.
UT Health East Texas is the leading integrated health network in the region, supported through a landmark partnership among The University of Texas System, UT Tyler, and Ardent Health Services. The system includes nine hospitals, more than 90 physician clinics and ambulatory locations, an extensive EMS and air transport network, more than 630 medical providers, and the only Level I Trauma Center in East Texas. Together, UT Tyler and UT Health East Texas provide advanced patient care, medical education, clinical research, and healthcare workforce development across a large and diverse geographic area.
Behavioral Health Services at UT Tyler and UT Health East Texas encompass a broad continuum of care, including inpatient psychiatry, outpatient behavioral health services, consultation-liaison psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, telepsychiatry, substance use treatment, and community-based mental health programs. The service line includes more than 15 clinical faculty members, four clinical divisions and sections, more than 30 residents and fellows, multiple inpatient and outpatient sites, and strong partnerships that support education, research, and clinical innovation. Significant opportunities exist to expand access, strengthen care delivery models, enhance academic integration, and further establish the organization as the premier behavioral health provider and academic leader in East Texas.
The successful candidate will be an experienced healthcare executive with a demonstrated record of operational excellence, strategic leadership, financial stewardship, and program growth. Candidates should possess at least ten years of progressively responsible healthcare leadership experience, including substantial experience in behavioral health services, along with a master's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, or a related field. Experience partnering with physician leaders and faculty within an academic medical center, integrated health system, or similarly complex healthcare environment is highly desirable.
