The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, South Carolina, seeks an accomplished academic leader to serve as its inaugural Section Chief of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. MUSC and MUSC Health are amid an exciting period of growth. This is an outstanding opportunity to grow the section and advance its academic and research programs as part of one of the nation's top digestive disease centers in a city and community known for its enviable quality of life.
The incoming Section Chief will be part of a division with faculty members including national and international leaders in their respective disciplines. The Division houses more than 29 faculty members, 14 fellows, and 9 advanced practice providers. Reporting to the Division Chief, the Section Chief will have the resources and support to set a bold vision for the growth of IBD in clinical, education, and research programs of excellence. The program maintains significant clinical volume and anticipates recruiting additional faculty members. This is also a key leadership position within the nationally recognized Digestive Disease Center.
MUSC, the state's only academic health science center, consists of six colleges and educates and trains more than 3,200 students and approximately 900 residents annually. As the healthcare system of the Medical University of South Carolina, MUSC Health is dedicated to delivering the highest-quality and safest patient care while educating and training generations of outstanding healthcare providers and leaders to serve the people of South Carolina and beyond. Applicants must hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree, be board certified in Gastroenterology and/or Hepatology, and possess outstanding leadership skills and administrative experience with a demonstrated commitment to clinical care, research, and education.
