WittKieffer is leading the search to recruit the next Chief Medical Officer for Community Health Group (CHG). Community Health Group is a nonprofit, community-based managed care organization that has served San Diego County for more than 40 years. Through its affiliated organizations, CHG provides comprehensive Medi-Cal and Medicare health plan services to more than 328,000 members and generates over $2 billion in annual revenue. The organization is widely recognized for its commitment to delivering high-quality, equitable healthcare and exceptional service to diverse communities throughout the region.
The Chief Medical Officer is a key member of the executive leadership team and will help shape the strategic direction of the organization while providing clinical leadership across both the Medi-Cal and Medicare lines of business. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, the CMO will oversee medical management, utilization management, quality improvement, population health, care management, and provider engagement initiatives. The CMO will partner closely with executive leadership, physicians, health system partners, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and member-centered care.

Community Health Group seeks a collaborative, mission-driven physician executive with deep expertise in managed care, Medicaid, quality improvement, utilization management, and population health. The successful candidate will bring progressive physician leadership experience, ideally within a health plan environment, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with providers, regulators, community organizations, and executive stakeholders. The ideal leader will possess strong clinical credibility, sound business judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to improving healthcare access, quality, and outcomes for diverse populations.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited school of medicine and board certified in a recognized medical specialty. An unrestricted California medical license, or eligibility to obtain one, is required. Advanced degrees such as an MBA, MHA, or MPH are preferred.

The current hiring range for this position is $425,000 to $550,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on education, job-related experience, skills, and internal equity.
