Montclair State University seeks a strategic, creative, and distinguished leader to serve as its Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the President's Executive Council, the Vice President for University Marketing and Communications is the chief marketing, communications, and brand strategist for the University. The Vice President leads a division responsible for advancing the University's enrollment, reputation, and mission through integrated marketing and communications and oversees a team of approximately twenty-five professionals and a budget of approximately $6.7 million.
Founded in 1908, Montclair State University is a prominent public research institution in New Jersey. It is federally designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution, has an R2 classification, and is highly regarded for social mobility by U.S. News & World Report. The University serves over 23,000 students across fourteen colleges and offers more than 300 academic programs. The 252-acre suburban campus features two dedicated NJ Transit train stations making the 12-mile trip into Manhattan quick and convenient.
The Vice President is responsible for developing and executing, in partnership with the Vice Provost for Enrollment, marketing strategies that drive student enrollment and generate measurable return on investment, while simultaneously building and protecting the University's brand across a multi-campus, highly diverse institutional environment. The Vice President will also collaborate with the Managing Director of Montclair Unbound and University Provost to ensure alignment. Within these units, this is a revenue generating role.
The Vice President is a trusted counselor to the President and a cross-functional partner to senior academic and administrative leaders across the institution. Internal communications will be envisioned to increase awareness across all divisions.
A bachelor’s degree; a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, or a related field, with demonstrated success in senior leadership is required.
