Lexington, KY – The University of Kentucky Healthcare (UK) and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics seek applications for the Chief of Pediatric Cardiology and Co-Director of the Joint Pediatric and Congenital Heart Program.
The Joint Pediatric and Congenital Heart Program employs an innovative one-program, two-sites model of more than 50 cardiologists, surgeons, and subspecialists across UK and Cincinnati Children’s. Through this approach, the pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery teams at Golisano Children’s at UK are supported by a broader network of pediatric heart specialists at Cincinnati Children’s.
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology stands as a critical beacon of specialized cardiovascular care for the region. Housing 11 pediatric cardiologists, the Division provides an extensive continuum of care that spans advanced non-invasive imaging, fetal cardiology, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology and preventative services. The Division seamlessly integrates high-volume, multi-disciplinary clinical excellence with a deeply rooted mission to eliminate systemic barriers to lifelong congenital heart care across the Commonwealth.
The incoming Chief will continue to spearhead the expansion of the Division and elevate the program's complexity and broaden its specialized tertiary offerings. The Chief will serve the region by expanding patient access and geographic reach while leading the strategic recruitment efforts to attract high-caliber pediatric cardiologists. The Chief will continue to advance the deeply integrated partnership with Cincinnati Children’s, where the Chief will cultivate a seamless care continuum. Additionally, the Chief will work in close alignment with the leadership of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery and Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care, forging a unified, multidisciplinary service line capable of delivering synchronized, top-tier perioperative and intensive care.
The ideal candidate will be an accomplished leader dedicated to advancing patient- and family-centered care and improving outcomes. They will demonstrate a collaborative leadership approach and bring substantial experience operating within complex academic settings. This academic appointment, at the Associate Professor or Professor level, requires an MD, DO, or equivalent degree, board certification in Pediatric Cardiology, and eligibility for medical licensure in Kentucky.
