GBMC HealthCare System, located in Towson, Maryland, is seeking a transformational, enterprise-minded leader to serve as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at a defining moment in the organization’s journey. This is a rare opportunity to shape the people strategy of a nationally recognized health system that prizes excellence, compassion, and purpose and is actively investing in its future.
As a proud recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, GBMC stands apart for its unwavering commitment to quality, patient-centered care, and a culture where team members feel deeply connected to the mission. The system serves more than 1.4 million residents across the greater Baltimore region through a 275-bed flagship hospital, a strong employed medical group, and a fully integrated continuum of care spanning ambulatory, acute, post-acute, and hospice services, including the continued growth of Gilchrist, GBMC’s nationally respected hospice and palliative care program.
Reporting directly to President and CEO, Dr. Paari Gopalakrishnan, the CHRO will be a trusted advisor and core member of the executive leadership team, with both visibility and influence at the highest levels of the organization. This role goes far beyond traditional human resources leadership. The CHRO will help shape enterprise strategy through intentional workforce planning, leadership development, culture, and organizational effectiveness, ensuring GBMC has the talent, capabilities, and engagement required to support growth, innovation, and evolving models of care.
The CHRO will lead a broad and meaningful portfolio that includes talent acquisition, total rewards, employee and labor relations, learning and organizational development, and employee health. With Gilchrist’s expansion and continued system growth, this leader will bring a forward-looking, data-driven approach to workforce planning-anticipating future talent needs, strengthening leadership pipelines, and aligning people strategy with clinical excellence and operational priorities.
GBMC offers a powerful foundation: high employee engagement, strong physician partnerships, and a culture rooted in respect, collaboration, and service. The next CHRO will have the opportunity to build on this strength, bringing fresh perspective, contemporary HR practices, and innovative thinking to elevate the function as a true strategic driver of performance and experience. Success in this role will require a leader who is equally credible in the boardroom and visible on the front lines-someone who listens deeply, builds trust quickly, and leads with authenticity and clarity.
Supported by a deeply committed CEO and leadership team, the incoming CHRO will have both the mandate and the momentum to make a lasting impact, shaping the future of the workforce while advancing GBMC’s mission to provide exceptional care to the communities it serves.
