Rady Children’s Health (RCH), one of the country's largest, premier pediatric health care systems recognized for excellence and innovation, seeks a dynamic leader to serve as its next President and Chief Executive Officer.
With three children's hospitals totaling 983 beds, a growing network of primary and specialty care centers across six counties, two Level 1 pediatric trauma centers, and two Level 4 NICUs, RCH is dedicated to advancing children's health across greater Southern California through leading-edge research and treatments, clinical outcomes, and compassionate care. RCH was created in 2025 and unites the trusted expertise of its legacy organizations in Orange County, nationally recognized for its commitment to safe, high-quality care, and San Diego, ranked among the nation’s top 10 children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.
Reporting to the RCH Board of Directors, the next President and CEO will be joining the organization at a strategically important and energizing time. This leader will continue to build momentum of the successful merger, deepen collaboration with its academic partner, the University of California, and guide the system towards a new, transformative vision and strategy. RCH is well-positioned to become a model for the country and the world, building upon a demonstrated track record that includes AI initiatives and global genomics innovation. The organization will continue to unite its unwavering commitment to patient safety with a culture of learning and continuous improvement that advances what's possible in pediatric healthcare. In partnership with community investors, RCH will fuel advanced discovery and operational excellence, creating a unique opportunity to deliver impact now while preparing confidently for the future.
We are seeking candidates who have significant experience as a senior executive, President and/or CEO. Pediatric experience is preferred, as is experience in an academic and research-oriented healthcare setting of significant size. Individuals will have demonstrated leadership success in a large, complex, multi-site healthcare system with a successful track record in vision and strategic execution, community engagement, donor fundraising, and complex board governance experience. Successful candidates will have a primary emphasis on transformational leadership: a leader ready to advance a bold agenda with urgency, optimism, and a strong bias for action. Strong emotional and intellectual alignment with RCH's mission, values, and culture of servant leadership, collaboration, and performance excellence will also be critical to success.
This is an exceptional opportunity to build upon a foundation of success and create something truly extraordinary for children's, families, the region, and beyond.
