Get in TouchPamela Fox, Ph.D. is a recognized higher education leader with 40 years of experience spanning large public universities and small private colleges. A Senior Advisor in WittKieffer’s Leadership Advisory solution, Pamela supports presidents, boards, and senior leaders in higher education in accelerating their impact and confronting immediate and longer-term trends. Through her work in executive search and development, she is passionate about the alignment of strategy and leadership.
As a 20-year president of Mary Baldwin University in Virginia, Pamela led the transformation of a small women’s liberal arts college into a coeducational university, significantly growing enrollment and adding more than 30 new programs. Two highly successful strategic plans fueled the creation of a new branch campus, the Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences, two record-breaking fundraising campaigns, the creation of new colleges and centers, and deepened support for equity, diversity, and inclusion. Pamela’s tenure was the longest since Mary Baldwin became a four-year college in 1923 — and one of the most transformational in its 181-year history.
Previously, Pamela was a tenured professor of music at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and served in numerous leaderships roles including Department Chair, Associate Dean, Dean, and Assistant Vice President. She served as chair of the university’s 2009 strategic plan, strengthened the centrality of the arts, increased philanthropic support, and faculty staff diversity and inclusivity. She is a widely published musicologist.
Pamela maintains her passion for classical piano and its daily practice, is committed to her husband and family, and supports non-profit work in the arts and women’s health and leadership.
