Get in TouchBased in the Atlanta area, Alana Aisthorpe Penley brings an extensive background in executive search and consulting in the healthcare industry, combined with extensive experience as a researcher within academic medicine and public health. Over her recruiting career, she has served clients ranging from hospitals and health systems to academic medical centers to investor-backed healthcare organizations. Whether recruiting C-suite leaders, deans, or department chairs, Alana excels at identifying leadership candidates who align with her client organizations’ strategic needs, values, and culture.
Alana was previously a Senior Associate at another multinational executive recruiting firm, where she led searches for a range of positions within the firm’s Academic Health & Healthcare Services Practices. She played a crucial role throughout the search process, from business development to candidate negotiation. She also held a prior role as a Research Associate at the same firm.
Alana also previously coordinated clinical trials within the Department of Human Genetics at Emory University’s School of Medicine. Her research efforts focused on inherited metabolic disorders, with a particular emphasis on phenylketonuria, maple syrup urine disease, and urea cycle disorders. While at Emory, she also served as a project manager for the Southeast Regional NBS & Genetics Collaborative. Alana has additional experience as a Research Analyst for the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where she contributed to research on the prevalence of developmental disabilities in children.
In her personal time, Alana enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters, and two Great Pyrenees rescue dogs.
