Moffitt Cancer Center seeks a dynamic, experienced informatics physician executive to serve as its next Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO). This is a unique leadership opportunity at one of the nation’s most respected cancer centers, with a mission dedicated to advancing patient care, research, and education.
The incoming CHIO will partner closely with information technology leadership and clinical stakeholders on an upcoming system-wide Epic implementation, playing a key role in clinician engagement, adoption, and optimization. In addition, the CHIO will serve as a senior clinical leader responsible for executing a comprehensive informatics strategy that advances clinical care delivery, supports cutting-edge cancer research, and enhances educational initiatives. This role will also support clinical innovation and transformation, ensuring the effective integration of technology across clinical and clinical research domains.
Serving as a critical bridge between clinical leadership, information technology, analytics, and operational teams, the CHIO will drive improvements in patient outcomes, research capabilities, and organizational efficiency. The role requires close collaboration with executive leadership to translate strategic priorities into technology-enabled solutions that support Moffitt’s complex, research-intensive environment.
The ideal candidate should have substantial Epic experience, including hands-on involvement in a large-scale EHR implementation. A small percentage of clinical practice will be required for the position. Experience working within a highly integrated academic medical center or cancer center with a strong research enterprise is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will appreciate the multifaceted mission of Moffitt Cancer Center and bring a visionary yet pragmatic approach to informatics leadership. They will be a visible, trusted physician leader who thrives in motivating and managing people and resources across a complex health system. The CHIO must be an inclusive, persuasive communicator—able to articulate and champion how technology can meaningfully improve care delivery, research workflows, and overall system performance.
Given the scope of the position, relocation to Tampa, Florida is required.
