The Adolescent Health Study is a major national research programme designed to generate transformative insights into adolescent development, health and wellbeing.
The study aims to recruit at least 100,000 young people, aged eight to 18 years, and follow them for 10 years. This will establish a comprehensive data platform to support research into the biological, psychological, behavioural, and social factors that shape outcomes during adolescence.
Funded through a £62 million UK Research and Innovation award, the programme is entering a pivotal phase in its organisational development and has recently transitioned to an independent private limited company with charitable status. This shift will enable more agile decision-making, diversification of income and increased autonomy, and requires an enlarged and independent Board of Trustees.
We are looking to appoint up to five new Trustees, with the intention of expanding the Board further over time. These appointments will bring fresh perspectives and complementary expertise to the existing strengths of the Board.
In particular, the organisation is seeking individuals with experience in the following areas: Legal and regulatory affairs; financial oversight and audit; philanthropy and fundraising; charity governance and strategic leadership; or, business and commercial leadership.
Prospective Trustees will bring a track record of supporting or leading major organisations in the private, public or third sectors. They will demonstrate a clear understanding of governance and strategic oversight, and possess the ability to engage constructively with complex issues in a research or knowledge-intensive environment. All Trustees will bring a passion for advancing health equity.
