The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was established in 2004 and was the first Sino-foreign University to open its doors in China with the full approval of the Chinese Ministry of Education. It is part of the University of Nottingham’s Global University, a world top 1% university (QS Ranking), with co-operation from Zhejiang Wanli Education Group, a key player in the education sector in China. Currently the University has more than 9,000 students and 1,000 staff members from 70 countries and regions worldwide, and the number is still growing.

The Vice Provost for People & Culture is a senior leader and member of UNNC’s Management Board, reporting to the Provost and Pro-Vice Chancellor. The role holds responsibility for bringing strategic, managerial and executive leadership to the development of UNNC’s people and culture agenda, within the framework of the University of Nottingham’s mission and strategic direction. The Vice Provost for People and Culture aims to foster a positive work environment, develop a strong organisational culture, and align HR practices with the University’s objectives.
The incumbent will ensure that UNNC has the right diversity of leadership, decision-making and local accountability in place to deliver on the University of Nottingham’s strategy, University values and UNNC’s Campus Development Plan. They will work closely with other members of Management Board, Professional Services Directors and academic leaders to drive equity, diversity and inclusion and people-orientated policy and initiatives across the University. The Vice Provost will also have a close working relationship with their counterparts at the University of Nottingham in the UK and Malaysia.
UNNC is seeking a strong, strategic leader whose excellent communication and networking skills will enable them to lead and coordinate the development of the vision, strategy and plan for people & culture matters of the University. The successful candidate will have a track record of innovation and delivery, as well as experience of working in a people focussed role and EDI in the higher education sector. They will have substantial people skills, including team building, consensus building, and leading through influence and experience of making and implementing decisions in a collaborative environment.
