Northwestern Medical Center (NMC), located in St. Albans, Vermont, seeks a creative, collaborative executive to serve as its next Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). This is an exciting opportunity to partner with senior leadership to continue to provide exceptional nursing care at one of Vermont’s most sought-after hospitals and communities.
NMC, is the leading provider of health care services in Franklin and Grand Isle counties, serving a population of over 65,000. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CNO will be responsible for patient care services and driving, supporting, and exemplifying a service-oriented culture that prioritizes employee quality safety, patient and team member engagement and stewardship. The CNO will drive innovation and continuous improvement in clinical services and will explore new avenues and implement cutting-edge practices to enhance patient outcomes and experiences. As an integral member of the executive leadership team, the CNO will foster productive collegial relationships with both internal and external constituents and actively engage with physicians and administrative staff contributing to the planning and implementation of nursing practices across the hospital. The incumbent will be a master of developing collaborative relationships and driving outcomes-based initiatives. It will be a priority to develop the most effective and efficient workforce strategy to ensure nursing colleagues are performing to their highest ability and creative, contemporary recruitment and retention practices are being leveraged.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned, dedicated, and relationship-oriented nursing leader with significant experience developing and executing nursing strategy and operations in an acute care organization. Candidates should have experience leading and implementing quality and culture improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will be a leader who holds themselves and others accountable and leads through influence and an orientation toward outcomes and serving patients and partner with the CMQO and Director of Quality to drive clinical and organizational excellence. They will also develop and grow a new and dynamic nursing group, form strong relationships and partnerships withing the organization and be able to achieve the strategic objective of Leap Frog, “A” and CMS 5-Star.
