The University of Kansas, a beacon of education, scholarly activity, and creative pursuits seeks an experienced, forward-thinking, and collaborative leader to serve as the Director of Sorority and Fraternity Life.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Katie Treadwell, the Director of Sorority and Fraternity Life (Director) of KU is responsible for leading strategic initiatives to strengthen the sorority and fraternity community resulting in an inclusive, engaged, and healthy community. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life strategic plan in collaboration with senior administrators, student leaders, national organizations, house corporations, advisors, and community groups. The strategic plan includes objectives focusing on community well-being, risk reduction, academic support, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development. The Director supports a team of eight full-time professionals, in addition to graduate assistants and student leaders. The Director also serves as a key member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team.
The successful candidate will be an experienced leader and collaborative bridge-builder who can think creatively about the great potential of Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) at KU, bringing best practices to bear for SFL from a variety of areas including strategic planning, fiscal management, incident response, and cultivation of collaborative relationships. The new leader will be student-centered, highly collaborative, politically astute, and possess a commitment to leading a dynamic, future-oriented mission and vision for the SFL office. Foundational qualities for the Director will be demonstrated aptitude for developing trusting and positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders and excellent and diplomatic communication skills.
A master’s degree and five years of progressively responsible and relevant leadership experience on a college campus and experience with sorority and fraternity is required; affiliation with a fraternal organization is preferred.
