Novant Health seeks an accomplished and progressive physician leader, with a national reputation for clinical care in behavioral health, to serve as the System Physician Executive (SPE) for the Psychiatry Institute. This is an opportunity for an innovative and dynamic leader to craft a long-term vision to further evolve an exemplary psychiatry institute to serve as a destination service for Novant Health and the states of North Carolina and South Carolina.
Novant is one of the largest and most innovative nonprofit health systems in the country, spanning North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. This $7.5 billion integrated system comprises 15 hospitals and a multispecialty medical group consisting of approximately 1,700 physicians across 687 clinic locations.
The Psychiatry Institute is dedicated to providing the highest quality behavioral health services. The team is composed of accomplished physicians, psychologists, advanced practitioners, and therapists across Novant Health’s four major markets in North Carolina – Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Wilmington, and coastal South Carolina. Committed to the next generation of physicians, the Institute, in conjunction with University of North Carolina and Marine Corp Base Camp Lejeune, established a psychiatry residency program. The initial class of seven psychiatric residents will begin June 2024.
The SPE will lead the Psychiatry Institute to the next level through the advancement of clinical programs while continuing to meet and exceed national standards of excellence. They will cultivate strong alignment and working relationships and will be instrumental in shaping the overall clinical strategy of behavioral health across the region. Working across a large geographic footprint, the SPE will develop a multidisciplinary team-based approach and will provide a uniform and organized standard of care.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding clinician and respected leader in psychiatry with a track record of building leading-edge clinical programs and advancing clinical outcomes in a complex multi-facility environment. This leader will have a demonstrated ability to set a vision and effectively inspire, manage, mentor, and develop a preeminent psychiatry institute. Candidates must hold a medical doctorate degree and board certification in psychiatry.
