System Vice President, Quality and Safety

New Orleans, LA – Ochsner Health is seeking a passionate and experienced senior leader to serve as the System Vice President of Quality and Safety. This position affords a collaborative and dynamic executive the opportunity to join one of the largest academic health systems in the country. The System Vice President of Quality and Safety will strive to advance a culture of clinical excellence across the continuum, guiding the system to new operational standards of care delivery.
As one of the largest providers of health services in the South Central United States, providing care in Louisiana and Mississippi, Ochsner Health has more than 34,000 employees and 4,500 employed and affiliated physicians, in over 90 medical specialties and subspecialties. The health system leads nationally in cancer care, cardiology, neurosciences, liver and heart transplants and pediatrics, among other areas. Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans is consistently named both the top hospital and top children’s hospital in Louisiana by U.S. News & World Report. The health system’s flagship hospital, Ochsner Medical Center, received its fourth Magnet designation for excellence in nursing services by the American Nurses Credential Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program in 2019.
Working across a complex and highly matrixed health system, the System Vice President of Quality and Safety and Chief Quality Officer share accountability for fostering a culture of safety and high reliability throughout the organization, as well as implementing the strategic quality plan, in conjunction with executive leadership of Ochsner Health. The quality leaders of Ochsner’s clinical campuses and clinical service lines report up through the SVP/CQO dyad, as do the functions of robust process improvement, regulatory readiness, infection prevention and clinical risk management.
The successful candidate will be a passionate and energetic change agent with a proven track record in creating a culture of quality, safety and performance improvement with a minimum of five years progressive leadership in a complex health system including at least one academic medical center as well as community hospitals. A Master’s degree in a health care field or business administration is required, and those with a clinical background are encouraged to apply.
The next System Vice President of Quality and Safety must embody the principles of psychological safety and a Just Culture, and be a visible, transparent and decisive leader with excellent emotional intelligence and communication skills.
