Bayhealth, headquartered in Dover, DE, is seeking a highly collaborative, visible, and operationally minded healthcare leader to serve as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (EVP/COO). Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bayhealth, Terry Murphy, this leader will have the unique opportunity to execute key strategies for the system and lead operations for one of the most high-performing healthcare organizations in Delaware. This position offers a strategic and operationally oriented leader the opportunity to join and further optimize a cohesive and high-performing team, as part of a growing, financially stable regional health system focused on high reliability and the delivery of high quality, safe, accessible, and cost-effective care.
With net revenues of $940 million, the organization has a strong market position and has realized positive operating results. Bayhealth is an independent not-for-profit community health system consisting of the Kent Campus, Sussex Campus, a freestanding Emergency Department, an Emergency and Urgent Care Center, as well as numerous satellite facilities and employed physician practices encompassing a variety of specialties. The health system has over 4,700 employees and a medical staff of more than 450 physicians and 200 advanced practice clinicians.
The EVP/COO is a key leadership position and will have a central role in supporting Bayhealth’s strategic and operational priorities. It is essential that the EVP/COO advance goals while listening, learning, and establishing trusting relationships and common ground with employees and providers. The EVP/COO will collaborate with others to enhance coordinated, integrated models of care across Bayhealth’s operational and ambulatory enterprise, optimizing efficiencies, partnerships, and initiatives that improve access to high quality care.
Candidates will be performance-oriented, operationally superb, innovative leaders with at least ten years of progressive management experience with the five most recent years in an executive/senior management level position. In addition, candidates should possess a strong record of achievement, and a history of successfully working in organizations that have demonstrated high levels of employee and provider engagement and strong performance in improving access, quality, and safety.
