Columbia, SC – Prisma Health is seeking a transformational physician leader to serve as Chair, Department of Anesthesiology – Midlands. This is an outstanding opportunity for a proactive leader to develop a unified and contemporary Department focused on delivering leading-edge care delivery in a highly-productive environment with a long tradition of clinical excellence.
Established in 2017 through the merger of Greenville Health System and Palmetto Health, Prisma Health was created to best serve patients and their families. Today, the System has two regions: Columbia/Sumter (the Midlands) and Greenville (the Upstate). This physician leader will bring a strong commitment to setting forth and implementing a unified department to create an environment characterized by exceptional teamwork and positive relationships. The Chair will capitalize on opportunities to advance anesthesiology clinical services in operating and procedure rooms across the System. The Chair will support a strategic plan that will advance the group as a service-oriented department of anesthesiology aligned with the objectives of the health system and medical staff creating a cohesive culture. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop to develop an ACGME Residency program.
As the departmental leader, the Chair will establish themselves as a visible, approachable individual with a transparent, proactive communication style. The ideal candidate will have a track record of success in recruitment and enhancing culture while developing excellent physician relationships. They will possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. An M.D./D.O. degree is required and completion of a postgraduate medical education in an ACGME approved residency program. The Chair will maintain a component of clinical activity in conjunction with administrative duties. An advanced degree in healthcare or a business-related field is desired.
