St. Joseph’s Health, headquartered in Paterson, New Jersey, with major campuses in Wayne and Totowa, seeks a dynamic, action-oriented executive to serve as its next Vice President, Quality, Patient Safety, and Experience. Reporting to the SVP & Chief Medical Officer, this is a compelling opportunity to elevate quality and safety across a mission-driven regional health system with a rich legacy of service and innovation.
Founded in 1867 by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, St. Joseph’s Health is a nationally recognized Catholic healthcare network supported by more than 5,000 dedicated physicians, nurses, and care teams. With approximately $1.1 billion in net revenue, the system serves over 1.5 million patients annually and is the largest employer in Passaic County. It is also one of New Jersey’s leading providers of charity care and a prominent academic medical center known for its cutting-edge programs and clinical excellence.
The system offers a full continuum of care, including a Level II Trauma Center (St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, Paterson), an acute care hospital (St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center), a state-designated children’s hospital, outpatient services (Totowa Health Campus), home care, hospice, a cancer center, and multiple ambulatory sites across Northern New Jersey. St. Joseph’s Health Medical Group supports the system with more than 100 physician and specialty practices. Notably, the University Medical Center is a six-time Magnet® Award recipient for Nursing Excellence.
The incoming VP will be a key member of the leadership team, driving a culture of quality, safety, and patient-centered care. They will lead efforts to become a high reliability organization, engaging clinicians and staff across the system to collaborate in pursuit of exceptional outcomes.
The ideal candidate will bring clinical experience and at least five years of hospital-based leadership in quality and safety. They will also possess deep expertise in healthcare quality systems and regulatory reporting, and be a strategic, hands-on leader with a track record of aligning performance with organizational goals. A commitment to advancing patient safety and experience through teamwork and operational excellence is essential.
