Providence Alaksa, based in scenic Anchorage, seeks an experienced leader to serve as its next Chief Executive (CE). This is an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic executive to lead a statewide service area that includes one of the region’s best hospitals. This position affords a collaborative executive the opportunity to join a mission-driven healthcare enterprise characterized by a shared sense of purpose and a keen focus on the delivery of high quality, safe, cost-effective care through accountability and collaboration.
Providence Alaska is the largest private health system and one of the largest employers in Alaska. They operate five hospitals and 28 clinics across the state with 4,000 employees and over $1.1 billion total operating revenue. It is anchored by the flagship hospital, Providence Alaska Medical Center as the only comprehensive tertiary referral center in the state, as well as St. Elias Specialty Hospital in Anchorage – the only long-term acute care hospital in the state. Among the unique services are Alaska’s only children’s hospital and the only Level III NICU. Providence Alaska maintains 50% inpatient market share in the greater Anchorage area.
The next CE has an opportunity to continue to grow and strengthen the Alaska market at a high-quality health system. Providence seeks a visionary leader that can capitalize on a strong foundation of success while preparing the organization for the future. The CE will have an excellent track record of building strong relationships with clinicians, organizational and community partnerships, combined with a data and performance driven approach to operational and financial stewardship. Key attributes include collaborating with cross-functional teams, engaging in strategic long-term planning, problem-solving, adaptability, upholding high ethical standards, effective time management, and innovative thinking. The new CE will be comfortable leading a mission-driven organization in a time of substantial change in the delivery and financing of healthcare.
The successful candidate will be an operationally focused, results-oriented executive with a substantive track record of leadership in a complex, highly matrixed integrated delivery system. They will bring both a strategic growth mindset as well as strong business acumen, and will collaborate with the Divisional leadership team and other key stakeholders. The CE will have high emotional intelligence in order to develop a meaningful connection with community stakeholders, caregivers, physicians, and individuals at all levels across the region and the system.
