The Medical College of Virginia Foundation (MCV Foundation) is searching for a dynamic and experienced financial leader for their Assistant Chief Financial Officer (Assistant CFO). The new Assistant CFO will play a pivotal role in the long-term sustainability and strategic financial vision for the MCV Foundation. Reporting directly to the CFO, this position manages key financial operations while fostering transparency, compliance, and mission alignment.
The Assistant CFO oversees a talented team of finance professionals and leads efforts spanning treasury and investment accounting, accounts payable/receivable, financial systems upgrades, and audit preparedness. Through strategic planning, financial analysis, and stakeholder engagement, the Assistant CFO strengthens fiscal stewardship across 2,000+ funds and over $1 billion in managed assets.
Working collaboratively with more than 400 fiscal administrators and external partners, this leader ensures donor funds are used effectively and reports financial performance with accuracy and insight. As a vital contributor to board reporting, budget development, and investment oversight, the Assistant CFO enhances the foundation’s ability to support patient care, education, and research at VCU Health and VCU Health Sciences.
Rooted in a strong understanding of nonprofit fund accounting, GAAP compliance, and financial system optimization, the Assistant CFO drives innovation and accountability within the foundation’s financial infrastructure. This role demands strategic leadership, technical fluency, and a commitment to the foundation’s mission—to improve health in Virginia and beyond through philanthropy and collaboration.
