Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital, a 262-bed, not-for-profit acute care hospital located in Ocoee, Florida, seeks a dynamic, culture-driven, and progressive nursing leader to serve as its next Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). This is an exceptional opportunity to lead nursing and clinical services at a hospital recognized for its commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care and innovation in service delivery.
This leadership opportunity arises as part of the hospital’s continued growth and strategic focus on expanding specialty services, including cancer care, bariatric surgery, and advanced surgical capabilities. Health Central Hospital is part of the Orlando Health system, one of Florida’s most respected healthcare networks.
Reporting directly to Margaret Bonko, Vice President, Orlando Health and President of Health Central Hospital, the CNO will serve as the voice of nursing and clinical leadership. The CNO will oversee all aspects of patient care services, including nursing practices across a wide range of specialties such as cardiovascular services, critical care, medical/surgical units, oncology, women’s health, rehabilitation, and emergency services. The CNO will lead initiatives to enhance quality, safety, and patient experience while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional development. This role is pivotal in aligning nursing operations with Orlando Health’s mission, vision, and values.
The CNO will work closely with the Vice President of Nursing for Orlando Health to provide leadership and direction in alignment with the organization’s mission and values. Additionally, the CNO collaborates with other Chief Nursing Officers to support the goals of the Orlando Health Nurse Executive Council.
This role calls for a change agent—someone who can lead with authenticity, build trust quickly, and ignite the nursing team around a shared vision. The successful candidate will be comfortable navigating complexity, addressing social determinants of health, and closing gaps in post-acute care—especially around readmissions and primary care access. Above all, they must bring the spark, the relationship-building skills, and the strategic clarity needed to lead Health Central Hospital into its next chapter.
Candidates should bring a Bachelor’s in Nursing along with a Master’s degree in nursing or a related field, along with significant, progressive leadership experience in acute care nursing operations. A visible and approachable leadership style, combined with a strong understanding of financial and operational management, will be essential. The CNO will be expected to lead through collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and transparent communication—advocating for nursing staff while aligning with broader organizational goals and delivering candid insights to executive leadership.
The CNO will play a key role in strengthening recruitment and retention, advancing quality and care delivery, and fostering a high-performing nursing team focused on service excellence and continuous improvement. This is a unique opportunity for a forward-thinking nursing executive to make a lasting impact on a hospital that is deeply committed to its community and to the future of healthcare in Central Florida.
