Memorial Health (MH) is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking senior executive to serve as its Senior Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). MH is a community-based, not-for-profit corporation with approximately 8,300 colleagues and $1.7 billion in annual revenue. They have performed well operationally over the years and through the pandemic remain the undoubted market leader in Central Illinois. This is an exceptional opportunity to serve as MH’s inaugural CSO, shaping the role, the impact, and the future alongside a stellar leadership team.
Reporting to the new System CEO, Mandy Eaton, the CSO will be an integral partner to the MH leadership team as the System enters a new era of leadership and growth. The position has been created to build upon and execute the vision and strategies that represent the next major transformation of this complex health system, as well as identify new strategies within the changing field to continue Memorial Health’s market leadership. The CSO will assess MH’s strategic performance and conduct organizational reviews and evaluations that influence the long-term direction of the organization. They will evaluate current market performance, assessing how well the organization competes locally, regionally, and nationally, and identify appropriate opportunities for service line and System growth. The CSO will also help define the System’s strategy functions and support the building of strong departments.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned, innovative leader who can think creatively about how to optimize the many assets that make up this complex organization. The ideal candidate will bring experience in strategy and business development in healthcare, with an understanding of acute care and ambulatory strategy. They must possess a sound analytical capability to develop and communicate complex forecasting tools and analytical models to inform executives and other key stakeholders. The executive must demonstrate exceptional listening skills and creativity to engage individuals both inside and outside the organization for valuable input in the strategy development process.
MH seeks a leader who takes a progressive approach to strategic planning with proven experience in the healthcare industry. Candidates will have developed these skills through experience with a healthcare provider or within a consulting firm focused on healthcare delivery. The CSO must possess superb analytic skills and adaptability. They will be a leader with vision and particular depth in executing diverse business development growth strategies in service lines, joint ventures, partnerships, and affiliations. The CSO will lead with courage and will not be afraid to take measured risks in the achievement of long-term success.
