Prisma Health seeks a distinguished and experienced physician executive to serve as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Primary Care. Established in 2017 through the merger of Greenville Health System and Palmetto Health, Prisma Health was created to best serve patients and their families. Today, the System has three regions: Columbia/Sumter (the Midlands), Greenville (the Upstate), and the recent acquisition of Blount Memorial Hospital in Eastern Tennessee. Prisma Health, comprised of 19 hospitals, the 3,700 provider Prisma Health Medical Group and numerous clinical sites, generates annual revenues close to $7 billion. The Primary Care Division is comprised of close to 500 physicians and APPs providing outpatient care across Prisma Health at 75 locations, and places a keen emphasis on providing high quality, accessible, and patient-centered care in a progressive health system environment. The physicians maintain a strong clinical foundation based on its continued excellence in quality and evidence-based care delivery.
The CMO will oversee the continued integration of the service line’s three regions and lead the advancement of an integrated and aligned primary care division. This leader will ensure a contemporary model of practice, and a laser focus on access and quality. They will play a pivotal role in developing standards of excellence and delivering upon strategic recruitment and implementing innovative models of care. The CMO is charged with advancing a culture at Prisma where providers thrive and want to practice.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to construct a contemporary primary care program to enhance operational efficiency, and cultivate a positive organizational culture, all while fostering strong physician and provider relationships within a complex healthcare system. An M.D. or D.O. degree is required, along with completion of a postgraduate ACGME residency, and an additional advanced degree in healthcare or a business-related field is preferred.
