The Hospital Sisters Health System seeks a dynamic, experienced executive to serve as its next Vice President, Philanthropy. The Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) is among the leading regional not-for-profit health care systems in the country. HSHS is committed to providing the communities they serve with comprehensive health services faithful to the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.
The Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS), headquartered in Springfield, Illinois, is a multi-institutional health care system comprised of 13 hospitals and an integrated physician network across Illinois and Wisconsin.
The VP, Philanthropy is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and direction of the fundraising operation across the entire HSHS and Hospital Sisters of St. Francis Foundation. The next VP, Philanthropy will join the organization at a critical and exciting time in its fundraising history. Damond Boatwright became President and CEO of the HSHS in June 2021 and launched a dynamic strategic planning process for HSHS. Using the priorities generated by this work, the VP, Philanthropy will be able to launch a comprehensive development effort that will make a significant impact.
Central to this impact will be to develop a strategic development plan based on a deep assessment of the current fundraising program. The fundraising team is ready for a new vision for philanthropy, and the next VP, Philanthropy will be expected to implement a metrics-driven, goal-oriented roadmap to ensure the organization will achieve its philanthropic goals. Included in this plan must be the development of a culture of philanthropy within HSHS and in the communities it serves.
The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a commitment to best practices in the profession and a commitment to the mission of HSHS. Substantial and successful experience with organizational growth and change is of particular importance, as is significant experience cultivating and closing major and principal gifts. The VP, Philanthropy will understand and appreciate the entirety of a development program. Superior communication and relationship-building skills are essential and strong leadership skills with experience in a fast-paced, results-oriented culture are required.
