Concord Hospital Health System (CHHS) seeks an exceptional, relationship-focused executive to serve as its Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). This is an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic nursing leader to join a financially strong, independent, mission-driven regional health system.
Over the past two decades, Concord Hospital has evolved from a community hospital to an approximately $768 million regional integrated health system with approximately 4,837 employees. With 3 hospitals, nearly 50 ambulatory sites, 1,100 medical staff, 476 employed physicians, and advanced practice providers, and approximately 900 nurses, CHHS includes Concord Hospital Medical Group (CHMG), one of the largest and most sophisticated multi-specialty medical groups in the region. CHHS is fortunate to possess many unique qualities as a high-performing, not-for-profit health system with a strong regional presence. The organization is both stable and innovative, with dedicated employees, leaders, and clinicians who are talented, mutually supportive, and community-centered in helping the organization meet its mission. CHHS prides itself on its organizational culture, which is centered on characteristics of servant leadership.
Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer of Concord Hospital, Robert P. Steigmeyer, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will serve as a transformative leader at a critical moment in the organization’s evolution. This is a unique opportunity to shape and implement forward-looking, system-wide nursing initiatives that elevate care, strengthen alignment, and enhance performance across a diverse and growing health system. The CNO will guide the continuous refinement of clinical practices to ensure that care delivery reflects the latest evidence-based standards, while championing the voice and leadership of nursing in advancing operational excellence.
The CNO will be instrumental in fostering and sustaining a strong, cohesive culture rooted in trust, accountability, inclusivity, and shared purpose—bringing together teams across Concord Hospital Health System to create a seamless, high-performing clinical environment. By modeling values-driven leadership and promoting a spirit of collaboration, the CNO will ensure that nurses at every level—within CHHS’s clinical value stream structure and across the enterprise—feel supported, empowered, and connected to one another and to the broader organizational mission.
As a critical partner to the executive leadership team, the CNO will cultivate strong, trust-based relationships across all functions and especially with nursing leaders throughout the system. Through these relationships, the CNO will unlock the full potential of nursing leadership to drive innovation, elevate standards of care, and embed a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and deep engagement system wide.
The ideal candidate will be a visible, approachable, and transparent leader who communicates clearly and purposefully. They will bring a bold and seasoned perspective, grounded in deep experience developing and executing nursing strategies and operations in complex acute care and health system environments. The CNO will be a relationship-oriented leader with a demonstrated track record of driving meaningful progress on quality and culture initiatives. The successful candidate will lead with conviction, holding themselves and others accountable, and will foster an environment centered on outcomes, service to patients, and support for one another.
