In this role, the VPCNO will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serve as a crucial member of the executive leadership team. The successful candidate will align nursing strategies with systemwide goals, advocate for nursing excellence, and advance quality and safety outcomes while leading a dedicated team of nurse leaders across diverse departments, including emergency services, surgical services, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, maternity and women’s health, neurology, rehabilitation services, radiology and laboratory services.
The VPCNO will cultivate a culture of clinical excellence, shared governance, and professional development. Key responsibilities include strategic planning and oversight of inpatient nursing services, ensuring care delivery aligns with the organization’s mission and values. The VPCNO will collaborate with medical and management staff to develop and implement strategies that enhance patient care, evaluate operational efficiency, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, this position focuses on quality assurance and the professional development of nursing leadership to foster a culture of excellence in patient care.
Candidates for this role should hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field (a master’s is preferred) and possess current RN licensure with eligibility for California licensure. They should have progressive nursing leadership experience in a complex acute care environment and a demonstrated history of improving patient care standards, achieving quality outcomes, and engaging the workforce. The ideal candidate will be an authentic and visible leader, exhibiting integrity, curiosity, and a commitment to community-based care.
