Rochester, NY – University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) seeks an experienced clinician-scientist and outstanding educator to serve as its next Chief of the Division of Nephrology. URMC and UR Medicine (the clinical enterprise) form the centerpiece of the University’s medical research, teaching, patient care, and community missions. As one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers, URMC ranks among the top quarter of U.S. medical centers in federal research funding, has an overall budget of approximately $3.8 billion, and houses the flagship hospital, Strong Memorial Hospital, an 886-bed quaternary care facility. The last decade has been a time of remarkable growth in all aspects of the institution including the Nephrology Division. With over 30 faculty members, research funding of over $4 million, a respected fellowship program, and new clinic space opening this summer, the Division is poised for continued growth across the missions.
The Chief of Nephrology (Chief) will be a nationally recognized leader within the field with a proven commitment to the academic mission and an ability to advance the Division’s research program. This leader will utilize innovative care models to support the efficiency and quality of patient care across the region and enhance the Division as the preferred learning environment for residents, fellows and learners.
The successful Chief candidate will be a highly collaborative, inspirational, and dynamic leader with experience leading and engaging faculty in academic medical settings. They will have demonstrated success in fostering environments that support productive scholarly activity, advancing progressive clinical care models, and providing innovative leadership in medical education. This leader will have an exceptional track record as a clinician and in leading multidisciplinary teams to programmatic success. Candidates must possess an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. from an accredited school of medicine, board certification in nephrology, academic accomplishments that merit appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or higher at the University of Rochester and be eligible for licensure in the State of New York.
