The Camden Campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, traces its roots back to the creation of the South Jersey Law School on March 21, 1926. As the institution grew its physical footprint and student population, it gained a firm presence in the small community of row homes and churches. In the pursuit of accreditation, the law school and junior college were incorporated into the State University system in 1950. The Camden Campus continues to make great strides in its missions to teach, research, and serve the larger community. Through intimate class settings, an experiential approach to learning, and an unstoppable drive to better the community and the world, Rutgers–Camden is creating a model for what higher education should be for this generation and the next.
