Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS), a highly integrated, multi-institutional healthcare system sponsored by The Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, is seeking an inspiring nursing leader who is passionate and energized around building a culture of quality and patient safety to serve as its next Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer.

Reporting to the HSHS President and CEO, the next Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will articulate a vision for professional nursing practice while demonstrating a keen ability to collaborate effectively within a multifaceted healthcare system. Embodying the value of joy inherent to HSHS, the chosen candidate will exude a compassionate ethos towards both individuals and the broader communities served. As the System’s Chief Nursing Officer, they will embody the qualities of a healthcare executive, deeply committed to coaching, mentoring, and fostering professional growth. Their leadership will be characterized by the dismantling of silos, fostering a cohesive nursing practice foundation through robust teamwork, notably partnering with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO). The CNO will spearhead recruitment, retention, and talent development initiatives, seamlessly integrating internal succession planning. Serving as a strategic ally to the CEO, they will provide invaluable insights into nursing practice enterprise wide. This leader will champion change, respecting HSHS’s heritage while innovatively navigating toward a dynamic future for the organization’s ministries.
The successful candidate for the position of CNO must resonate with HSHS’s mission, principles, and Franciscan values. Additionally, they must have a proven track record of developing and executing transformational change, creating a workforce for the future, mentoring leaders, advancing quality through eliminating variation and leading in a multi-site setting. Essential skill sets include creative problem-solving, system thinking, and delivering results.
