Beacon Health System (Beacon) seeks a strategic, innovative, and dynamic executive to serve as its next Chief Information and Digital Technology Officer (CIDTO). This is an excellent opportunity to leverage technology to positively impact healthcare delivery at a growing and financially stable regional healthcare system.
Headquartered in South Bend, Indiana, with more than 8,000 associates throughout the region, Beacon Health System is the regional leader in comprehensive, integrated services. The not-for-profit provides care to more than 4,000 patients each day in northern Indiana and southern Michigan. The system includes multiple hospitals in Indiana including Beacon Children’s Hospital, Beacon Granger Hospital, Community Hospital of Bremen, Elkhart General Hospital, Epworth Hospital, Memorial Hospital, and Three Rivers Hospital, in Michigan. Additionally, Beacon provides access to its communities through Beacon Medical Group with over 300 providers in 65 plus locations and several outpatient centers.
Beacon Health System is governed by a 14 member Health System Board. The board is composed of local leaders and physicians. Beacon has maintained the philosophy that local leadership and governance matters. To that end, there are subsidiary boards for each operating entity, within their communities. The CIDTO will interact with the Health System Board and Committees, specifically the Audit and Compliance committee, routinely.
The CIDTO will report to the Chief Executive Officer, Kreg Gruber, and serve as an active and contributing member of the executive leadership team. They will provide the overall vision and strategic leadership to effectively guide the future direction of IT and digital, in alignment with the mission and goals of Beacon and will serve as an advocate for technology across the enterprise. The CIDTO will be tasked with assessing and transforming the existing IT environment and developing the plan and structure to enable a proactive, high-performing team. Major initiatives include developing an integrated and aligned IT function that serves as a strategic business partner in support of operations across the healthcare system; development of an IT strategic plan in alignment with the organization plan; optimization of the EHR and other applications; advancing the digital roadmap to include identifying opportunities to implement AI; developing an enterprise data analytics solution; and, establishment of a governance structure that effectively reviews and prioritizes technology investments.
The ideal candidate will be a confident, forward-thinking leader with demonstrated success leading IT in a complex health system. The CIDTO will have presence and be a team-oriented leader who is able to persuade others using strong communication skills. Decisive, nimble, and proactive, the CIDTO will be able to establish strong, trusting relationships and credibility at all levels including the Board and with stakeholders, in particular the clinical staff. In addition, developing relationships with vendor partners that serve in the best interest of the organization. The CIDTO will be a driven, innovative leader who can lead change effectively and deliver results in a growing and evolving health system.
