Emeryville, CA – Sutter East Bay Medical Group (SEBMG) seeks a forward-thinking, growth-minded physician executive as its next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, independent medical group affiliated with one of the leading health systems in California, during a time of strategic change and expansion. The CEO will be key in executing a growth strategy for the medical group in alignment with the greater Sutter Health system and its foundation partner.
SEBMG is a for-profit, physician-owned, physician-led, multi-specialty medical group located in the East Bay Area of the Greater San Francisco metropolitan region. Founded in 2005, SEBMG has grown to 460 physicians and advanced practice clinicians who specialize in primary care and 25 other specialties. SEBMG has budgeted for operating revenues of $174 million for 2024. SEBMG providers see patients in 16 care centers including four hospitals owned by Sutter Health. SEBMG also operates hospitalist programs in the four hospitals they serve. SEBMG is affiliated with Sutter Health, a 26-hospital nonprofit health system, through affiliation with Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation (SEBMF).
The next President and CEO will be an established medical group leader with experience in strategic and tactical leadership. This leader will bring a knowledge base and capabilities that span financial management, programmatic development, physician recruitment and relations, and strategic relationship management. They will be a relationship-driven executive, with strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills. Experience in a similar setting is of high priority – candidates must bring experience in a multi-specialty medical group, preferably with experience in the California healthcare market. A practicing physician with an MD or DO degree, current board certification, and the ability to be licensed in the State of California, is required. An additional advanced degree is preferred.

The pay range for this position is $600,000 – $825,000. The referenced pay range represents Sutter East Bay Medical Group’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation for this position. Individual salaries will be determined based on (but not limited to) market data, experience, and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries.
