Cook Children’s Health Care System (Cook Children’s) seeks a dynamic, distinguished executive to serve as its next Assistant Vice President, Research Informatics (AVP). This is a unique opportunity to lead the IT infrastructure that supports a growing research portfolio at Cook Children’s, a $2.1 billion integrated child health system located in Fort Worth, Texas. The Cook Children’s research environment has grown appreciably over the past five years. It applies leading-edge scientific knowledge, technology, and evidence-based practice to improve quality care outcomes for children and is composed of investigator-initiated research and externally sponsored research.
The AVP, Research Informatics will be responsible for the portfolio of infrastructure and applications that are currently in use, or will be implemented, to conduct research at Cook Children’s. Internally, a key partner will be leaders across the Neurosciences Center as well as the clinical research team that includes more than 750 ongoing clinical trials. The AVP will collaborate with regional institutions and partners such as University of Texas Arlington, Texas Christian University School of Medicine, University of Texas Austin, and others as the pediatric health system identifies opportunities to expand its research portfolio. The AVP will be responsible for the comprehensive strategic research plan to support faculty research, ensuring that it continues to meet the needs of a growing academic community in an exceptional children’s hospital.
The AVP will report directly to the Vice President, Chief Data and Analytics Officer. The AVP is considered a member of the SVP, Chief Information Officer’s leadership team. Key initiatives will include establishing a research administration infrastructure, including the selection and deployment of a research administration platform and implementation of secure research computing infrastructure and collaborating with system leadership on the enterprise analytics roadmap.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in research technology and/or research informatics, a history of shaping research strategy, a deep understanding of necessary applications, and an understanding of how to ensure compliance of ongoing research initiatives in collaboration with the Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer and compliance leaders. They will be a consensus builder, able to effectively communicate the vision to all stakeholders, garner buy-in, and continue a successful implementation effort.
