Today’s diverse, dynamic senior care organizations play an extraordinary role in society, fulfilling lifestyles and providing essential engagement and much-needed support to seniors and the elderly population — a demographic segment that continues to grow proportionally and has an outsized impact upon our communities and culture. To thrive, senior care organizations require strong, stable, visionary leadership. Today’s CEOs must have the inherent passion to serve the aging population with a sense of urgency and innovation to imagine new ways of defining community, ensuring affordability and accessibility, and improving quality of life for seniors of all ages and circumstances. To find out more about the qualities and needs of this cohort of leaders, WittKieffer conducted a survey of CEOs of continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) and similar organizations. The survey revealed insights into the career plans of today’s senior care CEOs, their preparation for succession, and the priorities and planning processes of their leadership teams.
