Just as individual personality drives human behavior, organizational personality shapes the behavior of people throughout the organization. How do you change culture? There’s a tendency for organizations to take on culture by agreeing on new values and then driving them into the organization. However, executive teams must take on their own psychology first. You can’t change “them” before doing the hard work on “you,” as an individual leader and as an executive team. As each executive – and the team as a whole – embraces practicing new behaviors and mindsets, real change begins to take hold, shifting organizational “personality” (aka culture) and bringing strategy to life.
