Dynamic and disruptive times in higher education call for transformative leadership in enrollment management. In WittKieffer’s most recent comprehensive survey of chief enrollment management officers (CEMOs), respondents show their continued commitment to the profession while expressing trepidation for the challenges that lie ahead. “The role I now play is increasingly unrecognizable from the one I had a decade ago,” one survey respondent says.

- 58% are optimistic about the future of the profession
- 61% are personally experiencing burnout; 56% say their staffs are burned out
- Compensation, talent acquisition and retention are among their chief concerns
- The most important skills for CEMOs today are to be data-informed and strategic
The report also looks at current salaries and reporting relationships for CEMOs, provides a demographic snapshot of the leaders who participated in the survey, and shares meaningful suggestions for how colleges and universities can best recruit and retain enrollment officers today.
