Holston Valley Medical Center and Indian Path Hospital are integral parts of Ballad Health, a mission-driven health system serving 29 counties across Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, and North Carolina. As part of this system, the CEO will benefit from the support of a regional infrastructure while having the autonomy to shape local strategy and operations. Reporting to a Regional President and working closely with a local Board focused on quality, medical staff services, and community relations, the CEO will play a pivotal role in advancing Ballad’s mission at the local level.
Holston Valley Medical Center is a designated Level III Trauma Center and a regional leader in cardiac care, robotic-assisted surgery, stroke treatment, and cancer services. Indian Path Hospital complements these services with outpatient cardiology, inpatient consults, and a strong primary care presence. Together, these hospitals offer a comprehensive continuum of care to the Kingsport region. The CEO will be expected to enhance operational efficiencies, optimize service line performance, and ensure the highest standards of patient safety and satisfaction.
A key expectation of the next CEO is to be a truly embedded and committed member of the Kingsport community. This includes building strong relationships with civic leaders, local organizations, and residents, while fostering trust and transparency. The CEO will serve as a visible ambassador for the hospitals, actively engaging in community events, philanthropic efforts, and public forums. Internally, the CEO will be responsible for leading a solid and experienced team, nurturing leadership development, and maintaining high levels of employee engagement.
