Prisma Health seeks a collaborative, distinguished, and experienced leader to serve as the Chair, Department of Pediatrics – Upstate for Prisma Health and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Greenville. The Chair will lead by creating a unifying vision for the advancement and growth of clinical services and regional expansion of care delivery, strengthening educational programs, and fostering research within a nationally recognized health system and medical school.
Established in 2017 through the merger of Greenville Health System and Palmetto Health, Prisma Health was created to best serve patients and their families. Today, the System has three regions: Columbia/Sumter (the Midlands), Greenville (the Upstate), and the recent acquisition of Blount Memorial Hospital in Eastern Tennessee. Under the umbrella of the Prisma Health Medical Group, the Department of Pediatrics serves as a clinical and educational department of Prisma Health and is comprised of over 225 providers who provide comprehensive clinical services across 22 divisions. The Department delivers high-quality clinical services, top-performing educational programs, and promotes research and scholarship. As part of a complex integrated academic health system, the Department collaborates clinically and scientifically across departments, service lines, and the system.
The Chair of Pediatrics will inspire the academic mission of the Department and mentor, encourage, and support faculty to grow in their personal scholarly activity. The Chair will play a pivotal role in developing standards of excellence and delivering upon strategic recruitment and implementing innovative models of care. The Chair is charged with advancing a culture at Prisma where providers thrive and want to practice. They will elevate relationships and enhance the commitment of patient-centered care in a mission-driven environment.
The Chair will be a passionate and progressive leader committed to recruiting and retaining outstanding clinical leaders and improving the mechanisms of care delivery. The successful candidate will possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to inspire, promote growth, manage, and collaborate. The Chair also must demonstrate an ability to work within a complex environment and collaborate with other leaders across Prisma Health and the School of Medicine. This leader will set forth uncompromising standards of professionalism and an ability to take an institutional view, which is integral to the Department’s and the Health System’s success. Candidates must possess an M.D. or equivalent degree, board certification in pediatrics, and warrant qualification for appointment to Professor at the School of Medicine.
