This is a terrific opportunity for an experienced financial executive to contribute broadly to a very successful and growing children’s academic health system and its affiliates in Akron, OH.
Akron Children’s Hospital is a fully integrated pediatric healthcare system that serves the residents of eastern Ohio. ACH represents 406 beds, located at two pediatric campuses – its main campus in Akron, OH (281 beds), and its Beeghly Campus (42 beds) in Boardman, OH, along with a network of neonatology intensive care and nursery care units located in other general acute care hospitals. In addition, ACH operates a network of ambulatory centers throughout its service area. Today, Akron Children’s is the largest independent pediatric healthcare provider in eastern Ohio, employing approximately 7,000 employees and serving roughly 330,000 unique patients. The Hospital is also a teaching institution, affiliated with the Northeast Ohio Medical University, and pursues research endeavors in the Rebecca D. Considine Research Center to continually improve the quality of patient care.
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the VP Finance will oversee the controllership and treasury functions for ACH. The VP Finance will provide leadership over financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), tax compliance & reporting, treasury management, accounts payable, payroll, insurance, debt financing & compliance, and other related areas. The VP Finance will leverage technology to improve efficiency and accuracy of accountable area. Furthermore, the VP Finance will be a strategic thought partner and trusted advisor to the executive leadership team.
The VP Finance will serve as a trusted and respected colleague and resource for the management team at ACH. The VP Finance will focus on analytical decision making that accounts for changing institutional priorities as well as supporting positive operating margins for future growth. The VP Finance will quickly become versed in the financial position of ACH Hospital and identify opportunities for efficiencies, automation, and performance improvement. The VP Finance will play a leadership role in the planning and implementation of the Workday ERP system and be a “Go To” leader throughout ACH by remaining visible, approachable and viewed widely as a problem solver and as a valued resource, as well as manage and lead a multigenerational team.
The chosen leader will possess a minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience as a controller and overseeing treasury within an integrated healthcare system. Experience leading finance teams in a complex healthcare environment is required. Preferably candidates will have a strong foundation of public accounting experience and fully embrace finance and accounting best practices. The selected leader must also demonstrate a personal style that facilitates communication, collaboration, and strong negotiation skills. Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or business or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred; an active or inactive CPA is acceptable.
